Begonnen 2011 in Berlin, abgeschlossen 2024 — Iskandar El-Dicks Memoiren spannen einen Bogen von der Geburt am 11. Mai 1946 in El Mina, der Hafenstadt nahe Tripoli, bis zu seinem Leben und Wirken in Deutschland. Eine libanesische Kindheit, vier Monate in Buenos Aires, Rückkehr nach El Mina, die Libanonkrise von 1958, der Sechs-Tage-Krieg, journalistische Arbeit in Beirut, der Ausbruch des Bürgerkriegs 1975, Studium an der Karl-Marx-Universität Leipzig, Lehre an der Libanesischen Universität Beirut und dem Institut für Sozialwissenschaften in Tripoli sowie an der Jenan Universität, der zweite Golfkrieg und seine persönlichen Folgen, die Auswanderung ins vereinte Deutschland, der Neuanfang.
Das Buch verbindet Tagebuch und Rückblick: dort ein junger Mann, der in den Sechzigern die Welt entdeckt und niederschreibt; hier ein alter Mann, der ergänzt, kommentiert und erinnert. Dazwischen siebzig Jahre Geschichte — eine private und eine öffentliche.
Begun in Berlin in 2011 and completed in 2024, Iskandar El-Dick's memoirs trace an arc from his birth on 11 May 1946 in El Mina, the port town near Tripoli, to his Berlin exile. A Lebanese childhood, four years in Buenos Aires, the return to El Mina, the civil strife of 1958, the Six-Day War, the first steps in journalism, studies at Karl Marx University in Leipzig, the fall of the Wall, teaching in Tripoli, the Kuwait War, and at last the emigration to a reunited Germany.
The book joins diary and retrospect: there a young man discovering the world in the sixties and setting it down on paper; here an old man who completes, comments, remembers. Between them, seventy years of history — one private, one public.
بُدِئت في برلين عام ٢٠١١ وانتهت عام ٢٠٢٤ — تَمتدُّ مذكراتُ إسكندر الدِك من ولادتهِ في الحادي عشر من أيار ١٩٤٦ في الميناء، المدينةِ الساحلية قُربَ طرابلس، إلى حياتهِ وعملهِ في ألمانيا. طفولةٌ لبنانية، أربعةُ أشهرٍ في بوينوس آيرس، عودةٌ إلى الميناء، أزمةُ لبنان عام ١٩٥٨، حربُ الأيام الستة، العملُ الصحافي في بيروت، اندلاعُ الحرب الأهلية عام ١٩٧٥، الدراسةُ في جامعة كارل ماركس بلايبزِك، التدريسُ في الجامعة اللبنانية في بيروت ومعهد العلوم الاجتماعية في طرابلس وجامعة الجنان، حربُ الخليج الثانية وتبعاتُها الشخصية، الهجرةُ إلى ألمانيا الموحَّدة، والبدايةُ من جديد.
الكتابُ يَجمعُ بين اليوميات والاسترجاع: هناكَ شابٌّ يكتشفُ العالمَ في الستينيات ويُدوِّنُ، وهنا كَهْلٌ يُكمِلُ ويُعَلِّقُ ويتذكّر. وفي الوسطِ سبعونَ عاماً من التاريخِ — تاريخٌ خاصٌّ وعام.
